Better Than Esperanto, Dance as the Universal Language
Better Than Esperanto, Dance as the Universal Language
Malena is a freelance graphic designer who loves travelling around the world. She has travelled across Europe and South America, and is always daydreaming about her next adventure. Malena also loves dancing and is an amateur tango dancer. Besides the kick she gets from swirling across the dance floor, she also enjoys the social aspect of it. "I love getting to meet new people and making friends wherever I go, and that's precisely one of the beauties of tango dancing, or any kind of ballroom dance: I can arrive at any city in the world where I have never been before, find a dancing society, and immediately get to know people and make good friends!". At home and abroad, it is precisely at Milongas (where tango dancers meet up and dance together, like a dance jam session) that Malena has met many of her closest friends, including her best friend, Jackie.
"People who attend Milongas are there to enjoy themselves and meet new people, so the atmosphere is always most welcoming and relaxed". She also feels that besides the friendly ambiance, there is something special about being in close contact with somebody else on a dance floor for the first time.
Touch (be it a hug or a handshake) is universally considered a form of communication, a first step to approaching someone else. But dancing really takes the social power of touch to a whole other level: add some music to the background, get your body swinging to the beat in sync with someone else, feel the way the other person responds to your moves while you react to theirs, and you will experience it for yourself - dancing is truly the ultimate ice-breaker!
Indeed, there is something magical about ballroom dancing. You may find yourself standing close to a total stranger, dancing with them for the first time, and within seconds feel like you have known them for years... It's a universal language: words are no longer necessary to connect to the people next to you and a much more authentic and profound form of communication instantly takes place. Dancing is perfect for meeting new people and sparking meaningful relationships - anywhere you go.
