Does it Really Take Two?
Does it Really Take Two?
It's a well-known phrase, used everywhere from movies and television, to books and magazines. You've probably used it yourself. Some of us may not even know its origins, but this popular phrase is true.
It takes two to Tango.
According to Google, the Tango is a ballroom dance that originated in Buenos Aires, in the 1880's. Most of us have seen it on the silver screen. With its marked steps, its postures and pauses, the Tango is arguably one of the sexiest ballroom dances ever conceived. But the seduction and sensuality of the Tango depends heavily upon the chemistry between its participants. Yes, specifically, two participants.
That means you need a partner.
You may have watched that movie and imagined yourself in that very same scenario, strutting around the dance floor with a good looking partner, dazzling your friends and other onlookers, virtually commanding the attention of the crowd. The mere thought of being in that scene makes you feel confident, maybe even sexy. Then, reality jumps up and reminds you that you don't know how to do the Tango, much less have a partner. Your spouse may be an obvious candidate, but you're pretty sure they don't know how to Tango either.
It doesn't have to end there.
Whether you have a partner or not, you can learn the Tango. In fact, ballroom dancing instruction is a great way to meet people. Take your spouse and learn together. Show up without a partner, and see what happens. While you're learning, you may find yourself getting into shape, feeling better, and becoming more confident. Now, here's the fun part: show up to one of those fancy events at a ballroom. Wait for that moving, familiar rhythm, and take your partner by the hand. The next thing you know, you'll be swept up in those marked steps, those postures and pauses. Will you command the attention of the crowd? Possibly. But more importantly, you will be having the time of your life.
