It is Always the Right Time for Dance Lessons
It is not always easy to start a new exercise program. Sometimes putting it off, waiting for just the “right time” to start the program feels like the easier and maybe even better idea. When it comes to dancing, though, it is nearly always the “right time” for dance lessons and to continue dancing if you are already a dancer.
For many retired senior citizens, retirement is a good time to work on relaxing hobbies and passions. For one 83-year-old woman her passion is exactly what she continues to do, but “relaxing” would not be the word to describe it. Vi Carlile has been dancing since she was a little kid. She continues to dance regularly and even gives lessons to about 80 women, all of them over 50 years old. Carlile’s response to why she continues to teach dance and why others should get up and dance is:
You should ignore all the aches and pains and think about all the friends you’ll make if you come dancing.
Of course, Carlile is not the only one not using her life circumstances as an excuse for not dancing. Some women, including actress Mila Kunis are even taking up ballroom dance lessons while pregnant. For expectant mothers like Kunis, ballroom dancing can be a great low-impact exercise which helps the woman stay healthy during pregnancy. Of course, Kunis and fiancé, Ashton Kutcher probably took the health factor into account when deciding to take dance lessons during Kunis’ pregnancy, but that was not the only reason for this decision. Apparently, the couple was inspired by the intense dance sequence between Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper in Silver Linings Playbook.
We understand not everyone can continue dancing into their 80s, and ballroom dancing is not the perfect exercise for every pregnant woman, especially one in her third trimester, but if you are interested in social dance lessons, no matter your current place in life, contact us.
