2 Unlikely Candidates for Ballroom Dancing
If you haven't done any ballroom dancing before, you may have a perception of the typical person that does it. But at Quick Quick Slow Ballroom Dance Studio, we see people from all walks of life taking an interest in ballroom. Whether it is someone who wants to work their way into the competition circuit or a couple looking for a way to spend quality time together, their reasons vary greatly. Here are some unlikely clients we see fall in love with ballroom.
Mother and Father of the Bride or Groom
It's typical for bride and groom-to-be's to take some ballroom lessons during their engagement so they can impress when it comes time for the first dance. Sometimes we also see the mother of the groom and the father of the bride come in to work on their skills as well. But what we love is when the families that come in to work on a dance for a wedding find a love for ballroom and keep coming back after the wedding is over. While the parents of the bride and groom might not have come to a ballroom class if it weren't for their children, we often see they find a passion for it when they least expected.
People Without a Dance Partner
A common misconception about ballroom is that you must have a dance partner to come take lessons, someone willing to come take the lessons with you. Some people are afraid to try ballroom going on their own. But we find many of our clients find the dearest friends when they step out of their comfort zone, try ballroom dancing even though they don't have a partner, and fall in love with social dancing.
If you have an interest in learning to ballroom dance—even if you don't think you are the ideal candidate—we promise we have a space and community for you that is welcoming, freeing, and challenging all at the same time. Contact us today at Quick Quick Slow for more information.
