3 Things I Learned from Watching "Dancing with the Stars"

Another season of “Dancing with the Stars” is well underway.  Each year this show pairs a group of non-dancers with a talented professional for the entire country to watch, envy, ridicule, and devour in whatever way they please.  It is no surprise that after 25 seasons, the show is still going strong.  The overall premise of the show doesn’t change, it will always be a reality dance competition.  The people and dances do change.  That is what keeps people coming back for more.  Variety is the spice of life and we as a people definitely appreciate that when it comes to television.  However, is there more to gain from this show than just entertainment?  The following list proves that there just might be.

1. Anyone can be a dancer.

This show is living proof that anyone can be a dancer.  Year after year they parade a collection of amateurs out for the rest of the world to observe.  Sure, it can be funny to watch them trip over themselves or mess up the same step for the thousandth time.  But, the true depth in the show comes when they succeed.  Hard work ultimately leads to a show worthy dance, proving that anyone with focus and determination can ultimately become a dancer.

2. Even if you stink at one form of dance, it does not mean you are going to be terrible at them all.

How many time have we been watching DWTS and seen a celebrity fumble one week only to excel the next?  So, the Cha-Cha isn’t really your thing.  Well, take heart dear one because there are a whole handful of other types of dance to try.  This rule works in reverse as well.  Just because you are awesome at one type of dance, doesn’t mean you will be awesome at them all.  Keep your head high and keep trying.  You’ll get there!

3. It’s all about the spectacle.

Maybe we don’t have the option of disco lights and sequined dresses, but we can spice up our life with a little exhibition.  My mom used to say that the right outfit can make or break a day.  So, if you’re struggling, get out your Sunday best and make the most of it.

Dance is one of the most eclectic art forms.  And a show about it is more than meets the eye.  Contact us for more information on what dancing can bring to your every day life.
