Have you heard of Fred Astaire? He's a legend in dance history. And like you, he had to be taught to dance. "Pick Yourself Up" is a song in the film Swing Time. Fred sings about being as awkward as a camel and adds: "My two feet haven't met yet. But I'll be teacher's pet yet. 'Cause I'm gonna learn to dance or burst."
AWKWARD AS A CAMEL
Camels are unique creatures. In various shades of brown, they have long legs, tufted tails and over-sized feet. They're also very sociable and when they meet, they blow into each other's faces. We wouldn't recommend that here at the Quick Quick Slow Ballroom Dance Studio! But you'll get to know and enjoy lots of unique people as you learn the art of dance.
DANCE TO THE BEAT
Do you have two left feet? No worries. That's common with beginners. Don't be discouraged or compare yourself to others. Keep showing up. You'll learn to dance to the beat of familiar songs -- and new ones too!
TEACHER'S PET
Our skilled and enthusiastic instructors have lots of pets! They know that everyone learns at a different pace, and that's just fine with them. When you fall, as all dancers do, they'll encourage you to "pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again." You'll learn that it's worth it in the end, when you wow your partner and onlookers with beautiful dance moves.
DANCE OR BURST
You can move with sudden energy and burst onto the dance floor, but it's better to slowly and steadily learn to dance with both feet. Fred did, and so can you! Contact us at the Quick Quick Slow Ballroom Dance Studio. Our expert teachers can help you leave that camel in the dust and glide onto the dance floor with grace, enthusiasm and skill.
