Some simple thoughts as "Dancing with the Stars" Season 25 starts up...
“Dancing with the Stars Season 25” is underway. Every year I look forward to this show! I get so into it! I grab my glass of wine and the remote, then cuddle up on the couch to ooh and aah at the spectacle of it. Sometimes I laugh. Sometimes I cry. Yet, somehow I always find myself being overly judgmental of the stars. As I watch Frankie Muniz fumble his way through what seems to me to be a fairly simple step, I have to catch myself. Could I really do that better than Derek Fisher? What if one day they finally offer my dream come true? It’s “Dancing with the Normal People” and I’ve been chosen! Whimsical as it may seem, as I sit down each year to watch the newest group of celebrities make fools of themselves on the dance floor, I find myself fully fantasizing about that possibility.
Still, the dream isn’t that far out of reach. With the success of so many shows centered on the art of dance, studios are popping up everywhere. All it really takes is a leap of faith. The adult in me tends to shy away from these ideas. I could never just walk into a studio and take a class. However, if “Dancing with the Stars” has taught me anything, it is that anyone can dance. All it takes is a little determination, focus, and, well, a great teacher.
The purpose of this blog is not to give you a list of reasons why dance is a great form of exercise for your body and your mind. Luckily, some other great writers have already done that for me. All I am attempting to do is to encourage you to get off the couch, put down your glass of wine, and get out there! So maybe “Dancing with the Normal People” will never be a hit television show on your local station, but it can be a hit at your local studio! Go show them who really deserves that mirror ball this season! Contact us for more information on taking your first step!
